What to do . . .

From surfing killer waves to horseback riding, through nationally protected rainforests, to helicopter rides over active volcanoes, one thing is for sure--you’ll never be bored in Costa Rica! Even a simple stroll from your sea side accommodation  can result in hearing the wild call of the howler monkeys or the sighting of a friendly toucan or two. This land is as spectacular as it is diverse!

Costa Rica itself is about the size of West Virginia, USA. It has two coastlines, the Pacific and the Caribbean

The Pacific coast has fantastic  beaches and great weather..

Playas del Coco is one of the most well-known beaches in the country. It is only 25 minutes from the Daniel Oduber International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, Guanacaste. Many people use this area as a base camp because of its affordable accommodations, good roads, active nightlife and close proximity to a variety of fun things to do. From here you can also easily visit Pelonas Islands, Catalinas and Bat Islands to observe turtles, sharks and octopuses in their natural habitat.

Another up and coming place is Jaco Beach.  It’s not only close to beaches full of natural beauty, but it’s also close to a very modern shopping centre. A new motorway, that will make the journey to and from San Jose, a mere 40 min (2 hrs at the moment), is planned to be ready in a couple of years.  Land prices are rising fast.

Volcanoes
Forming the eastern border of Guanacaste are a chain of volcanoes that join the Cordillera de Guanacaste and Cordillera de Tileran mountain ranges.

To enjoy some truly amazing sights, take advantage of the hiking facilities, which allow tourists to summit a number of volcanoes or witness the dense, rich forests which are home to many rare and endangered birds and animals including jaguars and tapirs.

Canopy Tours
Soar through the forest treetops high above the forest floor. There you will view jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers and photographers.

As you enjoy a bird's eye view of the jungle over the trails far below, certified expert guides assist and explain what is going on in the habitat around you from the time you leave the ground until you descend back down to the forest floor.
